Having such a young team with only 1 starting senior and 2 seniors altogether, the boys Steer basketball team has done a great job this season fighting every obstacle in their way. The talented team made it to playoffs for the first time in 2 years, with such a young team hopefully there will be many more playoff runs in the future.

“We will be a good team to come in later years, we will dominate the game,” said junior Shooting Guard, John (3 God) Ibanez”

According to Ibanez, the team is ready for playoffs, more than they have ever been. This playoff run is also head coach, Nicolas Tyerman’s first, this year is a big year no doubt for the whole team and coaching staff.

“Having an inexperienced team can be good and bad, we will be more experienced in the future. It can be bad because of all the nerves and silly mistakes that we might make,” said Ibanez.

Many things have gotten in the way of the Steers success. Many people have never believed in the steers to make it this far or to even win multiple games. Despite all of the negativity, the young, talented team has fought through the adversity and made it to the playoffs anyway.

“Fighting the adversity and bonding as a team will be the keys of success making farther into playoffs,” said Ibanez.

Support the Steers in continuing in playoffs against Burkburnett in Anson, TX @7:30; Tuesday 21st. Cheer them on to victory in hopes of going all the way to state and making history.
