After falling short of a district title to Snyder, Steer Golf takes Second Place in the Regional Championship and will be advancing to state in May. It has been 5 years since the Steer Golf team has advanced to this level to compete. The team is made up of seniors Ryan Dimidjian and Zach Bennett, juniors Nolan Dominguez and Nolan Otto, and sophomore Jack Everett. The team shot their record low of 316 on Wednesday and then shattered it on Thursday for a new record low of 309.

“It feels good to know our season isn’t over yet,”  said Bennett. “It’s exciting I’m spending my last year of golf at the state tournament.”

For first year head golf coach, Ariel Falcon, this accomplishment didn’t come as a surprise.

“I expected to go to state with this bunch,” Falcon said. “And they probably thought I was crazy, but after seeing them swing, and seeing the work they put in, I knew they were something special. For this to happen in just my first year coaching has really been a dream come true.”

The state tournament is set to be held May 22 and 23 at Apple Rock Golf course on Horseshoe Bay Resort.
