Senior Samantha Grace, junior Benedict Michael and teacher Andrea Phinney left to San Antonio to attend the State VASE competition. After a couple of months of excitement and anticipation, Mrs. Phinney said she is looking forward to State.

“I think my students are very prepared for state VASE and so excited as well,” Phinney said “None of us know what to expect since it’s the first time for us to go.”

Senior and state qualifier Samantha Grace said she is excited to enter a piece that she has worked very hard on.

“I think I am, I worked hard on my pieces and just making it to state is enough for me right now,” Grace said “ I’m excited for the trip and even more excited to see all of the artwork there.”

Benedict Michael, foreign exchange student and state qualifier, has high hopes for the event.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me, because I won’t be here next year,” Michael said.

Phinney has high hopes for their chances at state.

“I expect Samantha and Ben to get a gold seal, which is the highest Mark as state and get you a scholarship,” Phinney said.

The team is in San Antonio and will compete on Saturday, April 29 .
